Pronunciation Word List

The words in the following list have been shown to have slightly different pronunciations in different parts of the country. DARE will be using this list of words in a new survey of American English, which will begin with a pilot survey in Wisconsin in the fall of 2013.  Participants will read these words as part of a telephone interview.
