Survey Results, 1965–70
Approximately 2,300,000 individual responses to the questions asked by DARE Fieldworkers between 1965 and 1970 were compiled in a database. Knowing that this massive body of information would be useful in stimulating further research as well as providing browsing pleasure, DARE Editors planned from the beginning to publish a summary of this data, listing all the responses to each question and the number of times each was given. Originally, the plan was to print the complete Data Summary in the last volume; but with the advent of digital publishing it seemed more reasonable to make the full Data Summary part of the electronic edition, and to publish in Volume VI only the data for the questions that have been explicitly referred to in DARE entries (e.g., “Cf DS E20”) Now we are able to provide the full Data Summary, here on our website. (Note: The full survey results, with downloadable demographic data and opportunities to create personalized, interactive maps, are also available by subscription at Digital DARE.)
Instructions: Either browse through the question topics below and click to get the full list of questions for that topic, or use the search bar. The alphanumeric question number that is used in the DARE entries is included at both the question and response pages. For now, if you wish to search by specific question number, please use the main website search bar above. A survey-specific search function is slated for the near future.
